Bajo un convenio de cooperación entre el IGP y el Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito (CASLEO), se instaló en este lugar el segundo magnetómetro construido —en el Radio Observatorio de Jicamarca (ROJ)— para el proyecto LISN.
On April, LISN implemented a variant of the technique known as monumentation at the GPS station in Ancon Observatory. This work consisted in the assembly of a metallic structure to allocate the GPS antennas, with features of stability and mechanical rigidity that will allow data acquisition for geodetic applications.
Low Latitude Ionospheric Sensor Network – LISN is created with the purpose of study of the high equatorial atmosphere, for which will be installed a set of geophysical instruments in the region of South America. Being approximately 50 stations of GPS, installed in diverse countries of the continent South American; 5 magnetometers stations and 5 ionosondes stations, installed throughout the 70ºW meridian line in South America. (see bulletin Año 1- No 6). LISN is development in three main stages: stage 1, administration of informatic and network to monitoring the distributed observatory; stage 2, the operational stage, consist in the installation of the geophysical stations; and the stage 3, investigation, that consist to study the high atmosphere, considering the diagnosis and forecast of ionospheres process using a data assimilation System, connected to numerical model that will be simulate this process. The first stage of the Project, administrative implementation of the informatic system for the monitoring of the distributed observatory from the central Server was finalized in 2006 year and the results is showing in the web page of the link (http://jro.igp.gob.pe/lisn) That web page show in the graphic form the temporal distribution of the TEC (Total Electron Contain, for 4 GPS’s stations, in real time at each hour of observation, also the user have the option to access that data in RINEX format for 24 hours. The GPS’s stations are: Bogota in Colombia, Cuba in Brazil, Ancon in Peru, and Antofagasta in Chile. In the same way, have available the diagrams of temporal distribuition of TEC and data observation in RINEX format for 20 stations of the red RBMC (rede Brasileira de Monitoramento Continuo) of Brazil.
