About LISN // Achievement
The development of the LISN observatory in South America provide important inputs to projects dealing with the low-latitude ETI (Electrodynamics, Thermosphere, and Ionosphere) system, forecasts, and development of plasma depletions and their associated density structures. It is envisioned that the distributed observatory is a powerful tool to forecast plasma dynamics in the South America region and, in particular, to give short-time forecasts of ESF (1-2 hours). Real-time displays of ionosonde measurements, GPS scintillation, and TEC will nowcast the state of a large region of the South American ionosphere providing important inputs to investigators working on C/NOFS and WAAS related projects.
